Political banner waving in this forum

Hatty

Absolutely love it and agree with you!! Turn it off!! This is not the 1st thread that has started to take on a very personal slant and I would suggest that this is totally unecessary and unhelpful.

We should be kind to each other and respectful of different opinions.

Thank you Jaynek, you’re absolutely right. It’s crazy that cancer patients should be arguing amongst themselves, while the NHS is being dismantled around them. We should be sticking together.
In any case, those who object to what they see as banner waving have got it wrong. The Coalition of resistance is not a far left organisation that is unrepresentative of mainstream views. It has members of many political viewpoints, and anyone of any political persuasion can belong. Yes the people they have picked out are left wing, but not all of them are, and they have thousands of members. Additionally, the protest will take place at University College Hospital, and there will be many doctors and nurses - so there are many decent people involved. Please also note, this is not an anti-government protest, it is an anti-health reform protest.

Would also like to say that both the BMA, the Royal College of Nursing and six other health Unions have come out in opposition to the Health Service Reforms - and these are hardy far left organisations. For those interested in the BMA point of view, please see the link below.

It seems to me that there are two topics being dicussed here and it may be helpful if they were split.

This thread originally asked the question if the advertisment of a political march was appropriate on the forum and there have been many posts both supporting and disagreeing with this.

The second topic is the reforms to the NHS themselves and the impact they may have on breast cancer care. Perhaps rather than getting this caught up with the other issue a separate thread could be started so that discussion is focused on this without distraction.

Just a thought…

Hello Daisygirl, the reason I posted information about the protest in the first place, was because of the effect the reforms are having/will have on cancer treatment, so the two cannot be separated (which is why it has been referred to). Some people will be interested in the information, and may even want to take part themselves - others may not . But it is up to individuals to decide these things, not a small group of people who want to dictate what can or cannot be written on these forums.

Amen to that Lemongrove.
