I only come here in October, because bc is not longer my priority, thank goodness. I am just posting to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel, and after my first diagnosis in 2003 and another one in 2010, I am fine, and have NED as my pal. I was well supported here in 2010 and met some wonderful people. (“embarking on an adventure” thread) I do not think any of them come here anymore, but one of my questions when I was first diagnosed was; how long have I got ? and there was no-one from a long time ago answering, so I promised myself I would try and post once a year to let others know there is often a positive outcome that lasts and lasts.
Take care of yourselves,
What a lovely and thoughtful post. Love your term “Ned is your friend”.
I am just emerging from five months of diagnosis/treatment. Without doubt the most challenging thing I have ever experienced. When you are in the midst of breast cancer treatment it can seem impossible to believe there is anything good to aim for, but it is out there and you just need to keep the windscreen wipers going until you spot something on the horizon to aim for.
Thank you Maria. I joined the thread you had started in perhaps 2009. And stilll meet up with the group you started . I was Dx late in 2009 and active treatment was throughout 2010 .I was so lost at that time. Again BC is not my priority anymore, but just to say there is light at the end of the tunnel even when ones torch seems to have weak battery . I had no idea how long I might have… but I have lived to enjoy seeing my daughter get married and I now have 3 more grand children. Again there were no more answers on this 10 years ago , but just to say there are positive outcomes.
Hello Marial, just seen your post and (if you are still seeing replies!) like to say a huge “thank you” for it. Its really kind of you to do this. My history is quite similar to yours, I’ve just finished treatment from my latest cancer and it is so encouraging to hear you are still well after so long. Long may it continue for all us "Ned"s! Love Mo x
Firstly this is wonderful that you are still here and NED. Secondly, thank you so much for those of us at the start of our journey that need to read more of these long term hope stories for going to the effort of checking in every year. I totally understand why most people who are through it all and healthy want to leave it behind but desperately searching for long term survival stories is hard so yours is full of hope and inspiring for us.
I hope you stay healthy and are checking in for years and years to come, thank you again.
Good luck and healing to all still in treatment plans. XXXXX
