Positive outcome?

My mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer left breast it’s a hormone receptive type . She has now started letrozole . Today we have been back for a biopsy on the right breast but was unable to complete it as my mum is so thin 38 kilos to be exact they want to do biopsy the right due to calcifications that has shown up ? What will happen now they carnt complete this ? She has also had a stool sample back which has confirmed blood in her stool so are awaiting a call from gastro clinic for that. Nodules on the lung has also shown up on ct scan which have shown up previously but one has grown in size although carnt be big as apperently they may be to small to biopsy . Just wondering what the outcomes could be for my poor mum and could there potentially be a happy ending to all this hell she’s going through

Hi n4t4lier17,

Thank you for your post.

It sounds as though your mum has a lot going on, with hearing from the gastro clinic as well as the nodules on her lungs which have increased in size. You may find it helpful to give us a call on our helpline to talk through your questions. We have the time to listen and signpost for further support and information.

If your mum’s treatment team were unable to undertake a biopsy of her right breast, they will discuss with her the next steps. There are further tests her treatment team may talk to her about if appropriate to look more closely at the calcifications. However, she may need an operation to remove the area of calcification if it’s not possible to get a biopsy of the area.

Her treatment teams will discuss with her how best to manage or treat what they have seen both in her breasts as well as elsewhere in the body.

We offer a range of free supportive services which your mum may be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.
