Hi im 2 and a half months past 15 sessions of radiotherapy. I have a reconstruction with implant. So far recovery has been ok except for swelling & redness but this last week my recon breast has gone very hard and tight. Its pulling on my chest wall. Im beginning to think i may have capsular contracture. Last time I had an implant 2004 I didnt have radiotherapy and it always remained soft. Im thinking the difference this time may be the radiotherapy. I really dont want more surgery if its failing. Has anyone had similar and managed to avoid further surgery? X
@susynight, So sorry to read, your feeling uncomfortable and worried at the moment,
I think you need to be been seen and checked out by your breast cancer team, I’m not medically trained to give advice, I did have a few problems with infections. I do wishing you well going forward.

Hi Tili
Thanks for your reply. I did contact the BCN last week and she made me an appointment straight away to be seen. The doctor said my reconstruction looked swollen at the top and felt hard with a couple of lumpy areas so shes ordered an ultrasound which im having next week. Just hoping whatever is wrong I dont need more surgery. X
@susynight , So pleased your breast cancer team are getting you sorted out, fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Wishing you well, please come back and let us know how you’re getting on.
