Possible Hand foot syndrome

I finished chemotherapy for breast cancer two months ago. About seven weeks ago my soles of both feet felt sore and painful. Mainly the balls of the feet and it worsens as the day goes on. I am not sure where to get a diagnosis or help. My gp advised I go to a Podiatrist

Is this something you can advise on? Are there things I can do to alleviate it? I am trying cold pads and soaking my feet in Epsom salts with some effect. Could this have been brought on by chemotherapy
Thank you for your help.

Hello lilley1

Thanks for posting. This sounds like difficult time for you, and it can be hard to know sometimes whether symptoms are as a result of treatment for breast cancer and where to get further information.

I wonder if you have contacted your treatment team or breast care nurse about the symptoms you have before seeing a podiatrist. It may be helpful to get their opinion in addition to seeing your GP.

It sounds as if your symptoms started soon after finishing your chemotherapy. Some chemotherapy drugs given for breast cancer can cause hand-foot syndrome (sometimes known as palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia)…You can read about these particular drugs in the link above, and also information about the symptoms and possible ways to help manage them. You may also find our top tips useful. It’s good to read that the remedies you have tried are having some effect.
