I have been having heaviness and pain in both breasts (not related to my cycle) and itching on one breast. My dr did a breast exam and mentioned possible ibc or premenopause. I do have some lumps in both breats also. I am having an ultrasound and mammogram nxt wk. What do these symptoms sound like to anyone?
Hi annonymous 2025, i understand what a worrying time this must be for you. Its difficult to say what your symptoms might be. When you go to the hospital they will do different tests depending on what your mammogram shows. I found out the same day i went to the breast clinic that they suspected i had breast cancer, but would confirm this once they got the biopsy results back. I was diagnosed in january last year at the age of 45. I cannot fault the care i have received from the nhs. They have been brilliant, because of them i am still here today. Good luck for your appointment, i hope you get the best possible outcome x
Hello anonymous2025
Thanks for your post. It’s understandable that you’re asking what may be causing your breast changes.
I’m unsure what you mean when you say ‘ibc,’ but it sounds as if your GP thinks you may have a breast cancer, so it’s good to know you have an appointment at the breast clinic. As @bluetit1 says, you’ll have some tests done and may require a biopsy to confirm results.
However, breast changes, such as heaviness and pain, can happen for many reasons and are common symptoms. They may be due injury, due to hormonal changes or due to benign conditions (not cancer). You’ll probably find your breasts change quite a bit throughout your life.
