Hi , I was diagnosed in 2008 with idc, treated with chemo, rads, herceptin. I have been recalled from my mammogram due to calcifications, have biopsy next week. Dr says it may be ok or dcis, if cancer is back will the her2 be checked again and would this mean herceptin is no longer working? Appreciate any thoughts

Thanks for that , anyone else got some thoughts?
Calcifications can often be a sign of dcis- a non invasive cancerous change. I had this a number of years ago and was treated with surgery and radiotherapy only. Later I did have invasive breast cancer but in the other breast so may just have been my bad luck. The breast treated with radiotherapy has been fine so far.
Sometimes invasive cells are found amongst the dcis and sometimes the calcifications are not sinister.
My sister had invasive breast cancer followed a number of years later by dcis which was widespread. After monitoring my sister for a while it was decided that the best option was a mastectomy.
Hope all goes well for you.
Hi Powerjen
Just wondered how you’re doing? What were the changes picked up on the mammogram? If cancerous, has the HER2 status been assessed?
Interested to know, I’m awaiting 5-year mammogram results having had IDC in 2009.
Best wishes.
