Post biopsy pain reminding me that I'm waiting for results - any tips?

I had my core needle biopsy 10 days ago and I’m still a little sore - nothing too bad, or unexpected since the imager noted that the lump was in an awkward and deep position and then I decided to hike up a mountain with a heavy backpack at the weekend (it was OKed by the imager). BUT every time I notice the pain it’s reminding me I’m waiting for results and making me anxious. I have another 2 weeks to wait for results (thanks NHS backlog) so if anyone has any tips on how to reduce the ache or to decouple noticing the pain from going into a panic spiral I would be very grateful.

I’ve been using CALM sleep stories to focus on when trying to get to sleep to distract myself from it and that works well, so it’s mostly waking hours that’s the issue now. I have anxiety even at the best of times, so this is genuinely at risk of getting me fired at work if I can’t find some way to focus on, you know, my actual job, at least for a few hours a day!

Hi @biscuitsbiscuits, I hope you’ve been well since you posted your message.

What you mention is an experience we hear about often, and we have a blog on this topic with some tips from one of out breast care nurses: Waiting for breast biopsy results can be a scary time | Breast Cancer Now

According to the timeline you were given, you may be days away from receiving your results. If around this time you’d like to speak to someone in our team, please remember we are here. You can find more info on how to contact us here: Speak to a nurse | Breast Cancer Now

Sending our warmest wishes
Bernard
