Evening. Can anyone please advise on good hair products to define my curls because the are super frizzy post chemo. I finished chemo in May and now I feel like a proper granny and I’m 43
. My hair is really thick and soft so don’t won’t to end up damaging it by using the wrong products. Any recommendations welcome.
@cwtch I was recommended Wella professionals ultimate repair shampoo and conditioner which seemed to work well for my hair.
I used Got2be hair glue, a tiny amount, to define the curls but never really got to grips with it as I’ve had dead straight hair all my life so didn’t really know what to do with curls. The chemo curls went after about a year and I’m back to straight hair now.
Hi Pat. That’s brilliant. Thanks so much for your tips
.
Try the cancer hair care group they have some good online sessions and advice line.
Or look good feel better
I will need similar advice in 6 months time when mine grows back……
How is yours growing? I finished in june and also have a lot of curls.
Thanks so much for that SMBW18. Will have a look at them.
It’s growing back well I think. Just wild and frizzy.
I didn’t use anything special and did straighten my hair !! After a year they dropped and it is now straighter than before chemo umpteen years later !
Have a look at Cantu shampoo, conditioner & curl cream. Can be quite expensive but if you havae a Savers near you they do a huge 750ml tub for around £7 which lasts ages.
Unmberto giani curl products are good too (the blue packaging) they have an anti-frizz cream you put theough your hair when its dry & can reapply the next day if needed. TK Maxx have the whole blue umberto Gianni set online for £19.99 at the moment. Really worh it for the full sized products.
Using a diffuser attachment on your hairdryer also helps.
Sounds ridiculous but wearing a satin bonnet or having a satin pillowcase stopa your hair from going frizzy during the night.
Good luck
That’s absolutely amazing advice and product recommendations. Will definitely have a look at them
.
I was talking to my friend - who’s always had curly hair - about this last night!
She recommended Olaplex No 10 bond shaper curl defining gel. It’s expensive but she swears by it and won’t use anything else. She also said about using a diffuser…
Thanks so much.
Hi,
I shampoo and conditioner normally..then use a micro towel…you do not want to rub the hair.
Dry hair my holding sections and squeezing moisture out, then use either Aussie Curl reviver cream. Small amount to encourage and nourish the hair…
Or
Use John Freda’s curl mouse, small amount again to encourage the curl and define them..
The cream and mousse can be used next day (don’t wash hair daily) to revive the curls..with this you can have about 3 days between washes.
Hi fp_flint, thanks so much for all that advice.
