At your appointment your surgeon will give you the results of analysis of the removal of the tumour. Your original biopsy determined what it was made of (hence they have worked out your treatment programme) but it’s not until they have actually removed it that they know its size. They will also tell you if they have been able to successfully remove it all (this what they call “margins”). Did you have a sentinel node biopsy? If so, you will be told whether the lymph nodes are clear or not
They should then be able to confirm the next stage of your treatment plan.
