Post op mastectomy and silicone implant

Hello!

this is my first post on here, and I’m really hoping someone can help. I had a single mastectomy and Braxon implant nearly three weeks ago. My question is, is it normal to feel a sort of “sloshing” inside the breast every time I move? I’m not sure if my brain is playing tricks on me, but it seems that I can feel the liquid (and implant itself?) moving around, making me reluctant to move as it makes me cringe. Not pain as such, more a sort of dread…does that make sense? Has anyone else had this and will it stop at some point? Thank you so much x

Hiyer ceoh,

I don’t have experience of the surgery you talk of and I’m not a medical person, just a forum user, but see that you’ve had no reply and that you are concerned so wanted to say something. I have read threads on here where some women have experienced the same and its been due to a seroma (fluid build up) around the implant.  I have heard (yet again from reading only on here) that a mixture of air and fluid that gets into the pocket they make to insert the implant and it is that moving around causing the noise.

I think this is a very valid reason, hearing the ‘slooshing’, to give your team a call and ask them to do a check-up to find out the cause of the noise. Thats what they are there for :slightly_smiling_face: It could be that a telephone call might be enough for them to assess, or they may want you to come in and have a quick check-up. However, whether its ‘fine and will reabsorb’ or is of a larger amount that needs some draining, or some other reason… is down to your team to ascertain. Do let us know how you get on, hope you manage to sort it soon as it sounds very irritating !

You can also always call the nurses here 08088006000, using the helpline at the top of the page, and I’m sure they can give you much better advice and a skilled opinion :slightly_smiling_face:
