I had mine in two weeks and they booked the appointment on the day of surgery. However a lot of people have said 4 weeks for theirs. I think if it was bad news and they wanted to move quickly they’d probably call you to re-arrange. You could always phone again in a couple of days and suggest that your stress levels can’t cope with the wait and you are starting to feel ill. Maybe get your GP to back it up? Ok, a bit machiavellian, but what the heck, you need your results.
Five weeks does seem a VERY long time to wait. Mine was 10 days from the surgery and even that seemed long enough. Are they so busy that they can’t give you an earlier appointment, or is it the path lab people who are taking so long to do the analysis? You could ask for a private appt just to get the results, which should be very much quicker.
That is way too long, you will go ga-ga. I would go and see my GP to see if they could speed things up. Seems a bit odd that the next clinic isn’t until March 5th.
If it was me, and please don’t think I am a trouble maker, but I would be giving someone serious grief on the phone and threaten to get the PCT involved as that length of wait is unacceptable.
My results were back 10 days later exactly the same as the other ladies.
Go and shout at someone, that always cheers me up!
I was dx Dec 2007 had WLE/SNB 9th Jan 2008 and didnt got my results approx 3 weeks later, I was originally told a week and then another and then another. Its the waiting thats the worst sometimes. Sorry no words of wisdom but I did keep ringing every day until they got me my HER2 results before I got the rest.
Good luck for the results, I will be thinking of you and will keep an eye out for your results. Try not to turn yourself inside out waiting for the results.
Love and Luck S x
Hi I’ve not even had op yet (23rd,WLE/SNB) but have been told that will have results 9-10 days after op. I live in North Wales, don’t know if it’s different waits in different parts of the country, you would think that there would have to be some ruling about what is the standard for this,it’s all very well getting referred to clinics within two weeks and getting ops within a set timescale surely there must be something re getting your results back… or is that just too much like common sense ?
My results were a week after surgery , which is when they put me on hormone treatment , but the her2 result took 3 months, Id finished my radiotherapy before they had that result - apparently they have to send a batch together!!
Have now received results of lumpectomy results and have been told that, because another smaller lump found nearby and breast tissue did not feel right, I need a mastectomy which can be considered a cure.
I am still concerned at the length of time it took to receive my results as they were issued to the clinic on 10th February, my GP gave me them on 18th February, was called in to what was coded “Family History Clinic” on 20th February and also given an an appointment for the FTBC on 5th March when I was told I would be given results.
The result being that I attended the supposed “Family Health Clinic” appointment fully armed with facts where they gave me results and was asked to decide whether or not mastectomy which I am opting for.
The 5th March appointment, which I think was made to give me time to decide on my treatment, was then cancelled but I am very concerned that my hospital are using delay tactics by delaying result tests and therefore delaying operations but still complying with BACUP treatment within 31 days guideline.
