Post op side effects 5 weeks on. Are they life long?

Post op side effects 5 weeks on (sentinel node removal) masectomy right 1

I would like some honesty about post operation side effects

Are they long term?

As it’s no use asking nurses at hospital it’s like a butlins red coat quips. eg forget the old you it’s the new you!

Eh can’t get straight answers

  1. Skin on right side where my ribs are sore like a rhino skin.

  2. Lumps, bumps neuralgic pain but nurse says do exercises they will disappear.

  3. Itchiness I actually had this prior to diagnosis too.

  4. This numb arm business will real touch return, my ribs feel sore.

Nurse said it’s cos I’m too thin normal size 10

The Neuralgic pain feels like my arm is a skeleton out in the cold biting pain.

How can that disappear nerve endings can’t glue together overnight.

I went in a decent car come out an Arthur Daley rust bucket.

Thank you

I would prefer truth not fantasy island

Hi Carine-Lou

I am about 12-13 weeks post mastectomy and lymph node removal.  Currently having chemotherapy. I am still getting occasional rib pain, I still have lumps and bumps area still not flat.  Occasional itching still not as bad as was. Sometimes my arm feels like its nearly back to normal and then suddenly I get the numbness back again I am sure this is all normal for the surgery we have had but I feel your frustration. Are we expecting too much
