I had grade 3 DCIS surgery on Friday 13th March and therapeutic mammoplasty, recovery is going well as I followed the advice given. However, during these difficult times I don’t want to hassle the Mermaid centre with what is such a minor thing but I have a hard area in my boob where the cancer was - I’m sure this is quite normal, will it go away eventually or do I learn to live with it? It’s not painful at all and I’m delighted with my new, smaller boob, be glad when I have a matching pair although that’s a minor detail in these strange times.
Hi ,you could post this query in the Ask the Nurses section of the forum - there is only limited monitoring of this part of the forum by the moderators at the moment .I will post you a link. Im quite sure you could also contact your breast care nurse if you are worried they will still be wanting to support you post op .After I had my lumpectomy I had a hard area around where they had removed the cancer and it was there for quite some time - I can still feel it slightly 5 years on so very likely just scar tissue - I’ve had normal mammograms and been examined many times .
