I came out of hospital last week after a WLE and axillary clearance. On Sunday night I had a temp of 38.9 and didn’t feel well at all. I went to the breast clinic in the morning and they diagnosed an infection in the lymph node removal site / drain site. I had lots of syringes inserted and ‘gunk’ aspirated and strong antibiotrics. I have been back daily for aspirations, which work short term then the whole area swells up again , it is fiery red, hot to touch and lots of open wounds/patches that seep fluid. The whole area is very painful!
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how long did it take to go?
I can’t start radiotherapy until it has gone.
Thanks Nicky (typing with one hand because my armpit hurts so much)
