I had the mastectomy surgery with instant implant 2 weeks ago. I am being checked weekly snd next appointment is tomorrow. The pain and discomfort is really bad. Pressure in breast bone and pain in lower breast and near armpit. I’m taking 8 Co codimol s day! Mornings are best but after an hour or so being mobile tbe pain starts. Lying down definitely helps but I can’t stay horizontal!!
I had my first diagnosis 5 years ago with 10 days of radiotherapy and my present surgeon has said there is a 20% chance of complications with this implant but that gives an 80% chance of my body accepting it. But it doesn’t feel like that at the moment. Any advice please from anyone in similar situation.

Hi, really sorry you’re going through this. It sounds very tough, especially just 2 weeks after surgery. The pain and pressure you’re feeling can happen early on, but it’s definitely worth discussing properly at your appointment tomorrow, especially since you’re needing strong pain relief.
Hopefully it’s just part of healing and things will ease with time. Take it easy and don’t push yourself too much. Hope you get some reassurance tomorrow

Thankyou so much for your reply.
Wound still not healed so another week of dressing and Pico pump. Also going to try Naproxen with Paracetamol for pain relief.
I had double masectomy and reconstruction with implants same time and lymph nodes removed on left side where cancer was that was five months ago left breast wouldn’t drain I had to have it drained every week three weeks after surgery I was admitted they drained over a litre of fluid and blood from left breast I had to get meds to stop the bleeding and blood transfusion I only stopped getting it drained four weeks ago and my wounds only healed two weeks ago I had to get dressings changed every two days because they where still bleeding on some areas my arm pits is still numb and side of breast and top of arm I only started radio last week because of the healing and after first session my breast swollen and became hard and heavy like it had fluid again I don’t get much pain except shooting pains where my nipples where if your being checked every week you’re consultant will notice if something is wrong but I haven’t needed to take painkillers from about a week after my surgery but everyone is different and do tell your consultant about the pain you are in

Thankyou for sharing. You have and are going through a difficult journey.
I keep asking myself if there will be an end to this. I had nodal removal early March then the mastectomy with instant implant 23 rd March which is now almost 6 weeks ago.
Each day after about an hour out of bed the pain and what feels like fluid starts… iv been housebound for 6 weeks apart from the weekly hospital visit. It just seems endless but I appreciate you have been battling for 5 months!
These forums are so good to air our thoughts and how we are all going through our individual journeys but the support helps so much.
It takes so much to stay positive and battle on but we will all get there. Wishing you well.
