Post surgery bra

Hi, not sure if this is the relevant group to post my query but I’m giving it a shot. 

 

I’m preparing my ‘to buy’ list for post surgery and wondered if I should go a size up for the bra? Will it make a difference if it’s mastectomy or otherwise?

Hi Maddy,

I had a mastectomy with immediate Reconstruction and was told to go up a bra size which I did ! After the surgery the bra was put on the following day and I actually had to have bra extenders put in as was quite swollen which I still am five weeks on ! I am not sure how it would be with just having mastectomy though !

Hi Maddy. 

 

I had mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I went up a cup size due to the swelling which I still have 2 weeks later. I have been wearing front zip bras. I first had a front zip sports bra but found it quite harsh on my wounds as they went from under my boob. I then got the post surgery ones from marks and spencer.

Hi Maddy,

i had a lumpectomy and bought crop tops from Sainsburys and Peacocks. This was 2017.

unfortunately had a mastectomy in Feb this year.

went to M & S bought 1 mast bra  ( usual size ) and then 2 online which were great from Nicola Jane.  Managed to buy these in their sale !!

good luck with your surgery…dont forget we’ve all been there…  and let us know how things go.
