Post surgery breast lump

Hello, I had breast surgery in July with a lumpectomy and lymph gland removal and have recently finished radiotherapy - 4 weeks ago.
However for the last 5 days I have what feels like a huge cyst in the breast where I had surgery. It is so sore to touch and feels really hard. I don’t know if it’s hormonal as I am on Tamoxifen or if I should be concerned and contact my breast nurse - I don’t want to if this is normal. I think my pain threshold is high but am really feeling this.
Thank you for any advice

I would definitely contact your BCN - I’m sure they would want to know about this. A couple of months after my radiotherapy I developed a hard lump near my lumpectomy scar which was accompanied by a burning pulling pain going all the way from where the lump was to my axilla and even into my upper arm . It turned out to be an oil cyst which didn’t require any treatment the pain slowly went and the lump has shrunk quite a lot but in some cases they need draining.
I’m not saying this is what you have - it could be a number of things and is probably not suspicious but may still need treatment .

Take care
Jo

I had mastectomy in September. When I saw chemo bcn 2 weeks I asked her to check my scar as I had felt a pea size lump just above my scar. She arranged appointment for ultrasound. Last week it was confirmed it was scar tissue, so that was a huge weight off my mind x

That was reassuring for you, I’m pleased it was just that. I’ll be ringing tomorrow and hopefully I can be seen.

Dear Jenfleur,

Well done for getting this far with your surgery and treatment, so sorry to read you are feeling uncomfortable.

However if this was me I would certainly call my breast cancer team asap you need to get checked out, I’m not medically trained, but thinking this could be an infection.

Wishing you well, health and happiness ahead
