I had a single Mastectomy with tissue expander implants on Monday 15 April, discharged with 2 drains on Tues.
Since coming home I had to stop the Dicodramol pain relief yesterday as it was causing severe constipation despite taking laxatives.
However I am still experiencing constant nausea, painful stomach cramps and lots of wind. I think this could be a reaction to the antibiotics I’m on Erythromycin ( I’m allergic to penicillin).
I have a 5 day course prescrbed, but it’s making me feel so ill , stopping me from sleeping and taking away any appetite as my stomach is so painful.
I really want to stop taking them
The recovery from the actual wound is painful enough, but my stomach is far more problematic!
Any advice really gratefully received, and I’m sorry for such a moany message!
Hi caron
Thanks for posting.
It sounds as though you are having a really difficult time so far after your surgery on Monday.
As we’re unable to give personal medical advice, it’s really important to let your treatment team, breast care nurse or GP know about the problems you’ve been experiencing. This allows them to assess your symptoms and offer further support by changing or stopping medication in order to improve the abdominal cramps and pain you describe.
If you’ve not done so already, please do contact your breast care nurse, surgeon (via their secretary), the ward you were admitted to, or your GP to do this.
We offer a range of free supportive services for anyone who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer which you may be interested in both now and in the future.
