Post surgery pillow support

Hi

I searched for an answer to the best pillows or wedge support post surgery but the last post on this was quite a while ago and I was just hoping for some current tips, recommendations for the best pillow and wedge to support a more tilted position on the back for post op. There is a bewildering selection so would be grateful for some help. Thank you.

I have no answers to offer, but am following with interest as my mastectomy is imminent. Meeting on Monday hopefully to discuss dates.

Hi @bee33

I used a v pillow at night on top of my own pillows as was hard with drains to lay flat . I also had a heart shape pillow used under my arm helped in the car stopped seat belt rubbing , I had mastectomy and lymph node removal so the heart pillow helped as well , I used a bag to keep drain in during the day easy to carry about , at night managed to hook it on bedside cabinet . I think you do find a good way to sleep after surgery it’s hard sleeping on your back . Hope all goes well for you Xxx

I saw a huge pregnancy pillow that looks like a big hug. It surrounds you but if you want to sleep on side oy might be good.

Hi @bee33 Good luck for Tuesday, I hope all goes well, I am sure you will be home in no time at all. My friend bought me the most wonderful V shaped support memory foam pillow which has been a godsend! I think there are a few available from Argos / Amazon etc

I only had to sleep a bit more upright for a couple of days and then found I was more comfortable laying a bit flatter on my back with a couple of pillows either side for support.

I too had a little bag for my drain which I just tucked down the side of me, you do find you are quite tired so should drift off to sleep fingers crossed, I always find the first night after an operation I sleep like a log and then the second night is terrible but after that then it’s OK

hopefully I’ve attached a picture of the bed set up, my sleeping cocoon my husband calls it (he has moved into the spare room bless him so I can spread my self out)

Hi there, I found a cuddle cushion the best for me, I was able to sleep on my back (which I don’t normally do) and it supported me enough and stopped me turning over. They have lots in Dunelm and Matalan. Good luck
