Post wide excision surgery

I have had 6 cycles of chemo and Phesgo neo adjuvant treatment after being diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer in Nov 25. Phesgo is ongoing at 3 weekly intervals. Next up was wide excision surgery with sentinel node excision. Having had a very bad reaction to chemo I was dreading the surgery.

First after the chemo ceased, I started to feel more human. I was still apprehensive about the surgery. In the event it all seemed to go well. Post op I was up and moving within a couple of hours and I have to say I have had no pain or discomfort. I feel so well it is difficult to remind myself that I am supposed not to do things. I can move my arm freely on the operated side . ( The surgeon was able to do both procedures through one excision). He came up after surgery to have a chat. So just to say, for anyone facing the same, from my experience so far 5 days on, it’s nothing to worry about. I feel the most human and normal since before treatment started. For info I am 74 so no spring chicken!

Having a shower was a challenge but I managed to use a plastic apron wrapped around like a boob tube with my right arm holding it in place. ( Right breast was the guilty party) Seemed to work. Not perfect but ok.

At the moment though I am wondering if anyone can advise on appropriate deodorants.

Hi @jom2 , so glad your surgery went well . I used Salt of the Earth Crystal stick natural deodorant from Holland and Barrett .

Thanks I was looking at them on Amazon. Not sure which scent

Ive been using the no ‘flavour’ one (opaque, bluey teal and yellow with the name in white writing) since my mastectomy in January 2021. They last an absolute age. I can go 72 hours without a shower/pit wash before I start ponging.

Definitely recommend.
