Hi all,
My 28yr old daughter is going into hospital today for surgery tomorrow, she is having a double mastectomy with immediate recon(tram flap) as she carries the brca1 gene and also a sequence change was found in brca2 gene,so she has opted to maximise her chances of avoiding this horrid disease. Now im not really religious,do i believe in god?im not really sure,i do believe in an afterlife so just in case there is a god would you all please say a little prayer for my baby, that she comes thru the surgery ok.Thankyou,
Best wishes to you all,
Di.x
Done.
My sister will also be having the same op shortly. She’s 26. We don’t carry the BRCA gene, but lost my mum and grandma to breast cancer - and I was diagnosed last year. It’s such a big decision to make - particularly at our age I think as my sister doesn’t have a partner and I worry how it will affect her body image and relationships.
I hope your daughter’s op goes well and that she is happy with the results.

Thinking of you all at this time. Hope all goes well

And from me…not religious, but spiritual…
My best friend’s daughter had double mx with recon, chemo, rads and tamoxifen at 29, and at the time did not have a partner. That was 3 years ago, and now she is a beautiful, bubbly blonde girl with a fantastic boyfriend, who my friend suspects is about to propose.
Hugs xx
thankyou, your support is very much appreciated
I hope all goes well for tomorrow. I had a single mx/tram in Feb and recovered much quicker than I thought I would.

I’m also praying even though not religious.

Just found your post Di. Thinking about you both and sending positive vibes for tomorrow. Hoping she makes a speedy recovery. My YD is of a similar age so cannot imagine just how hard it must be for you to watch your daughter going through this surgery. My heart goes out to you all. Take care of yourself. Let us know how she is doing and how you are coping too. Love Val

hi girls,
After a sleepless night i spoke to Jo this morning, shes a bit nervous having never been in hospital before, except to visit me! They are fetching her in an hour from now and i feel so useless and one hundred times more nervous than before my own op. Also feel guilty for passing on this gene to her which is silly i know,i certainly didnt blame my own mum for passing it to me.Anyway, will post later this evening when its all over, thankyou for your prayers and support, love to all,
Di.x
