Can you let us know what the pre assessment is for so that we might be able to provide you with the right information xx

LadyBowler . Yes i am having a lumpectomy done on the 17th July. I am having the pre assesment done on Friday .

Hi Norm, As Helena says a pre op assessment can take a while as you go from one place to another for various tests but they take good care of you and nothing is traumatic, I ended up going to phlebotomy for my blood tests as the nurse popped my vein, she blamed her fat fingers! It was fine though and the experts had it done in a jiffy!

They will talk you through exactly what happens on op day and the lovely lady who explained it all to me met on the morning which really helped my nerves.

I didn’t have an MRI, have you been told you are having one? Xx

Hi Helena and jobey68.
Thank you for your help .I have not been told I will.need an MRI. I read it in one of the many booklets i got that you could have one.
I am reassured after what you lovely ladies have said I as sure I will be ok. My daughter will be with me she has come to every appointment with me she has been fantastic .My rock .

Hi Norn,
If they haven’t told you about having an mri by now, then it’s most likely you don’t need one. Not everyone has an mri - it depends on the initial diagnosis.
My pre-op assessment was all done in one appointment & took about half an hour once in. It’s all quite routine - although not to us, of course!

Thank you everyone for your help . I have had my pre assessment done on Friday was fine nothing out of the normal just blood test ECT. I think I worked my self up to it and when it was over was left a bit shattered. All set for the dye on the 16th and the op on the 17th July . Off on holiday now for 2 weeks xx
