Evening everyone
Hope you’re all OK!!
I’m awaiting results of whether I will need chemotherapy or not, for context I had removed a 13mm IDC Grade 3 hormone positive Her2 negative, clear margins and no lymph involvement. I’m 34 years old, I know all hospitals probably do things differently but if you are similar in age/type could I ask what kind of chemo you were given and amount of sessions etc?
Is there also anything you did beforehand and to prepare your hair/body/mind for chemo that you think helped? It’s not a definite yet but I’ve accepted it as a possibility and looking to make things as physically easy as possible!
Again, I know everybody has completely different reactions to it but I have 2 young children (2 and 5) am I likely to need help with them for a few days after or are you generally well enough to get up and do a school run (5 minute walk)/maybe nip into a local play group for an hour?
Hope everyone is doing well

Hi @katie91
In the case that you do need chemo, I would strongly advise to have as much help on hand with the kids as possible! I had a 2 month old and a 3yo when I went through chemo (I was 32 at the time) and I personally wasn’t well enough to do the school run. Of course you may find that you are capable of more than you realise! That being said, I had chemo for TNBC so you may have something different (hopefully someone will get back you with further info!).
I did go to one playgroup, but with all the germs around etc I didn’t go back. I did eventually find one playgroup that was a small group, so I was comfortable enough going, completely up to you how you feel about this! Your hospital should give you white blood cell boosting injections, these really help but still best to be cautious.
For skin/scalp, coconut oil is a lifesaver. It’s simple and natural in case you want to avoid hard chemicals on your skin. Mentally, a motivation playlist helped me get through hard days. A slow walk, some fresh air, it’s tough but doable.
Fingers crossed for you, I hope you find out ASAP so you can start planning x
