I had lobular breast cancer in 2024 (ER/PR 8/8), treated with lumpectomy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen. My periods were heavy but manageable until they stopped for five months — then in March and April this year I had two extremely heavy periods, both bad enough to send me to A&E and leave me anaemic. I’m now waiting for a hysteroscopy, and my oncologist has paused tamoxifen in the meantime.
The gynaecologist has prescribed norethisterone for 3 days to stop another heavy period postponing the hysteroscopy. I’m really anxious about taking it because my cancer was strongly hormone‑receptor positive.
Has anyone else been prescribed norethisterone in a similar situation, or had to use it short‑term after HR+ breast cancer?
