I’m starting my radiotherapy in a couple of weeks and want to get my skincare in place. I asked army planning meeting yesterday and as it’s not an area I usually moisturise they’ve given me some Epimax which is parafin .
I burn really easily so I’m trying to take as much preventative action as possible rather than deal with soreness if it occurs.
I’ve seen others have used Flamigel so am thinking of buying some but I’ve also seen the Radiaderm 2 pack and wondered if anyone has tried it?
Any advice appreciated as I’m so over that breast being uncomfortable
Hi, I just wanted to reply as no one else has, I’m sure they will soon. I haven’t used the creams you mention, but I’m there would be no harm in trying them. You could ring your breast care nurse and ask their advice. I just wanted to reassure you. I had RT years ago, an old protocol now. I had 15 wide doses and 5 boosts. My skin is super sensitive to many things, but it held up fine with no problems. Hopefully you will breeze through it. Best wishes.

I think flamigel is used once you have skin breaking down, at least that what I was given it for .
Moogoo seems to be popular for prevention . I used Aveeno but found anything paraffin based just seemed to make things worse .

Hi, I was given flamigel to use when I was having radiotherapy. It worked brilliantly and I would definitely recommend x

I used MooGoo and my skin was fine, just a bit pink and tight. I’m very pale and burn in the slightest bit of sun! I used it for the week before (been using CereVe prior) and then took a small tube to RT to slap on immediately after. I made sure I topped up a couple of times during the day and before bed . All my RT were early mornings. Now it’s just over 3 weeks later and I just put on a bit morning and night.
A friend used flamigel RT and thought it was fab when her skin had broken.
Hope that helps xx

Hi
I also burn easily . I had 5 sessions of RT
I used Cerave for several weeks before and am still using it . I used Biofine emulsion too ( French cream ) and had very little reaction at all . 5 weeks post treatment I think my skin is marginally pinker on the treated side . Good luck x

I was given zero base to use twice a day, and Betamethasone (steroid cream) to use once a day - they gave it to me at the hospital on my first day of radio. Only three sessions in so will see how I go
