I was told last week that I have the BRCA1 gene and have decided to see the breast surgeon to discuss preventative mastectomy and reconstruction. However, Im only 29 and have not yet had a family which I plan to do in the next year or two.
Im unsure how / if pregnancy (and my hormones) will affect the reconstruction though? Will it be recommended to me that I wait until i have children before surgery?
If anyone has gone through this and knows the answer then any help would be much appreciated.
