I’m hoping some of us have had private MRIs that they can recommend?? I finished treatment in May this year, but seeing so many recurrences in women I did chemo alongside, and it’s just the never ending fear that stays with you. I was hoping to have a private MRI but no clue where to begin, does anyone have any experiences? I’m happy to travel to wherever in the UK (make a bit of a holiday of it, why not!)

I’m having a private MRI on Christmas Eve but nothing to do with BC. I’m having it at one of the Nuffield hospitals but you have to be referred by a registered doctor or surgeon. I don’t know exactly what it is going to cost (I’m self pay) but it will be in four figures. The thing with MRI is that it is done on certain parts of your body rather than all of it so to get a more comprehensive picture, it might be better in the first instance to have a CT scan with contrast and if an area needs further investigation, have a targeted MRI to follow. I may be wrong but I think your biggest issue will be finding a specialist without prior referral from a GP, although I know some who accept self-referral, and then convincing him or her to refer you for a scan without a specific area of concern.
