Hi all new to this, so apologies, not know knowing where to post this. I’ve recently finished chemotherapy for breast cancer, 4EC and 3 Docetaxol, through my chemo I struggled with various SE, but also I started to get bloated up and found it very difficult to pass gas, however it usually eased with peppermint tea. About a week before my last chemo it kept me awake, so bloated. Now I’m 23 days since my last docetaxol and it’s just got worse! Then Since saturday, I’ve now been having problems eating because of severe acid reflux, food just sits there so I end up gassy from both ends. And struggle to burp aswell! I take omeprazole, which hasn’t. Done anything. All the way through it’s felt like I had a rock in my stomach and lots of uncomfortable gurgling noises. Also suffered constipation since 2nd chemo, which I do take laxative for. If anyone has advice or similar experience, it would be very grateful.
Hi J ,Maybe post this is the going through treatment section under chemotherapy and you may get others who have been through the same who can help. You could also ask for advice in the "Ask the Nurses " section .Hope you feel better soon.Jill.
Try making yourself a tea by steeping some fennel seeds (easily found in the herbs and spices section of large supermarkets) in boiling water. Incidentally I read somewhere that fennel seeds are an old Indian remedy and also that they were an ingredient of Gripe Water that mothers would give babies when they had colic.
To think I thought I was the only one feeling bloated with wind & hiccups & u don’t want to be down wind of me at times! GP nurse helped enormously with spearmint tablets & probiotic yoghurts situation becsme manageable & i understand should ease of in ± 6 months. At least i hope it wlll!
