Good luck with your op Janey -??they can give you some good news today .
Hope all goes well Janey xx Jak
Thank you all so much for lovely thoughts and support. Thankfully the consultant today was able to access ct results from a couple of weeks ago and hugely relieved to hear nothing found. No answers about what’s causing the pain and nausea but I’m sure now everything else is ruled out that it’s the liver cysts they found at ultrasound - or is it the Exmessy?. The prep for colonoscopy was a trial one and didn’t work as effectively. I had a real Nurse Ratchett with me, practically accusing me of not sticking to instructions. Luckily other half with me for support that I’d been model prepper! The procedure wasn’t the best way to spend my Friday but it’s done. They’ve taken a polyp, which is off for testing and report says there maybe more missed because of bad prep. Joy of joys I’ll now be adding annual colonoscopy to annual mammogram! Can’t complain, as it’s good to be watched over. Hope everyone else is doing okay and that you’re now Lady (glam) Helena and you are pacing yourself. My friend never looked back from hip op Dizzy, so fingers crossed. Lovely to see you pop in Jill and hoping you are doing ok. How are you Jak and Charys? Love to all fluffy ones xxx
Hi Janey, I’m OK thanks counting down the days to KneeDay. Glad you survived the colonoscopy. A friend of mine had similar symptoms & a clear colonoscopy (inc. polyp) they’ve put her symptoms down to irritable bowel. xx Jak
Jak, I hope you don’t have too long to wait. Now I’m a bit more with it I’ve had another look at the report from yesterday. Looks like they’ve taken several polyps and one, which was 12mm, which I guess is why I’ll be back in a year’s time assuming no issues with biopsies. I’ve emailed Genetics, as wondering now if I do have lynch syndrome, which was originally suggested but wasn’t tested, as no history of bowel polyps! Hopefully polyp will be benign. Would be unfair to have 3 primaries! Hope you’re all keeping dry in this Autumn rain. Fire lit and rugby for us and a bit of Strictly. What will we do without Killing Eve?! Xx
Charys that’s such great news to read xx
Jak, I think you have your op tomorrow. Wishing you luck and hope you channel your inner Helena and are perfect patient for recovery! Your turn to have us virtually in your pocket. I’m so much better now that polyp has gone. Just waiting on results this week and seeing Gastroenterologist in January. In the meantime back to genetics to see if I have Lynch Syndrome. I hope your patient behaving Dizzy! Hugs to all xx
Hey jak if you get this sending you my best for your op tomorrow xx rest up afterwards and just think if what you will be able to do with your new knee xx
Charys, that’s lovely to read and another tick on the list! Great news for you too Helena and a tick on your list too. Love to all xxx
Charys
Funny, I was just thinking about how things were two years ago, it’s 2 years ago today since I started radiotherapy. I was in such a state, and coming on here really changed everything for me. You were all wonderful and I felt massively supported just knowing other people going through this, and not having to pretend all the time.
And there were lots of giggles along the way, we had lots of lighter moments too.
And here we are mostly still posting from time to time, and with newer voices too, what a good job you started this!
Hi Ladies!
Thank you for your kind messages.
Well that’s me sorted again got home on Wednesday night after being assessed and passing with flying colours. Even though I am in a lot of pain and anxious about not having someone to tell me if I’m doing exercises right, it’s better to be at home just a shock because hey had said 3/4 days. I am taking loads of pain killers so keep falling asleep! My mum is still insisting it’s nothing because she knows someone who bla, bla, bla!! It’s a lovely day here and I can see my sparrows and wood pigeons in the ivy ‘tree’ outside my bedroom window.
xx Jak
Hi Charys,
That’s fab news & so good to see where we all are now 2 years down the line & still chatting here on the thread you started ?
Jak, my OH had a knee replacement this year & regular pain relief & doing the exercises did work! He’s now walking for miles which wasn’t pos previously.
All the best for the gastroenterologist in Jan, Janey.
Love to all

Well done Jak look forward to a new year with a new knee you will be able to do so much more x
Sorry for gatecrashing your thread ladies just wanted to send Jak my best wishes for her op but lovely to see how you are all enjoying life ?
Jak
Lovely to hear it’s gone so well, that knee has been a problem for so long. So this is the annoying stage that will lead to a new you when you’re fully recovered and able to do things again, and pain free. My husband is three weeks past a hip replacement and improving really quickly now, hopefully by the time the weather is fit for long walks he will be as well, we had to put that on hold this year and most of last.
Hey Mishy18 - gate-crashing doesn’t exist on this thread - its an open door!
Hiiyer Jak, good luck with the ongoing knee recovery. Helena - you have done SO SO well, and been so incredibly brave and strong. I quoted your uterus and cervix on a different forum today, just so you know…:smileylol:
It is hard to believe its over 2 years since this thread was started - remembering those days too, Helena, Dizzy, Janey and Ann, so much has moved forwards, but we were all here when we needed to be and when we needed each other !!! I think of Lesley often and wonder how she is, along with some others who used to post. I am glad people pop back and post as its a great testament to all of our resilience.
BTW my hormones are STILL playing up massively, now its late stages of peri…hoping its VERY late stages…rather than tamoxifen taht started this thread. :smileyfrustrated::smileylol: Those of you that were here on the thread at the start know it was instigated by being taken off tamoxifen after 6 weeks on it, and struggling to readjust hormonally. I had a very extreme and unusual response to it (not to worry anybody else !). Anyway, at my final clinic appointment last week, the consultant said they ‘could’ prescribe HRT…but only IF…I took tamoxifen. Ha, my face ! The letter stated ‘you were quite clear that you will not be taking it again, after your last bad attempt’. LOL Can laugh now ey.
December 1st tomorrow all…xxx
Evening you lovely lot. Feeling nostalgic after reading the last few posts, I decided to look back at some of the first few. I made mention of a nurse prescribing friend popping by. That same wonderful friend who seemed to magically appear when needed was diagnosed herself just a few weeks ago. She got her plan today after mastectomy and starts chemo shortly. I’ve urged her to find her BC name and get on here and find her tribe to go through this nonsense with! You are a fabulous bunch of friends and I do think you were and continue to be the extra weapon in recovery. Mishy always welcome to this expanding bunch and Jak so pleased you are now home and hoping you are soon sprinting!
Thanks for good wishes Ann. I had results yesterday. Good news polyp wasn’t cancer, bad news it was precancerous. I am very happy it’s gone but feels a huge throwback to endometrial monitoring. I want to stomp around a bit but equally appreciate how well monitored I am.
I hope you all have lovely weekends planned. We are off to party with family. I’m not very into fancy dress but it’s Gatsby theme - dress sparkling and I shall have to channel my inner Strictly Charleston! Xx
Ps Charys I hope those hormones start to behave. I think I’m almost through menopause 2 and wondering what anyone else thought of Mariella’s programme?! X
Hello Willows,
Thought I’d say hello. Though I haven’t bern posting lately I have been looking in on you. So glad you got. a good result Janey though could have been better. Also pleased Lady H on the mend.
Very interesting programme Monday night on the menopause. Mine started 15 years ago, kept reasonably under control by hrt for 13 years. Having had to come off it when diagnosed 2.5 years ago it’s showing no signs of easing up at all, anything between 4-6 during the night. I’m beginning to think I’ll have it for life.
Tree up today, cards written ready for posting so feeling pretty pleased with myself, just as well as throat and eyes just started aching and got the feeling a cold is on the way so at least I’m ahead of the game if I need a couple of days indoors. Xx
I watched that mentalpause programme too! It was a interesting watch, didn’t realise until it started that it was really focussing on HRT causing BC! Ironic, I was offered HRT 12 years ago but refused cos I had heard of the association. Well enough said as I still got BC after I’d been through the mentalpause!!! ?
