progression Hi everyone
I have been on zolodex for nearly 4 years now and Herceptin 8 months. The last scan has shown some slight progression on lung and liver.I keep thinking is my oncologist giving me the right treatment . He is going to put me on xeloda to push it back. But what about changing my hormonal treatment , he never seems to keen on doing that because he says im pre men although i havent had a period in 4 years and i am 49 this year. I am going to try and get my GP to refer me to the Royal Marsden and see if i can get a 2nd opinion. I,m fed up and have lost so much confidence in doctors , it worries me that my life is in their hands.Every time i mention something new im fobbed off. I want Tykerb , no its not been proven, i want thermal ablation on the tumours which are still growing , no you have it in your bones, ah well looks like its good old chemo again , er no thanks i say is it going to cure me ? well no he says . Seems to me as though the no word comes up a bit to often. Well he has 2 weeks to to refer me or i will go to my Gp and get him to do it . Do i sound annoyed ? yes i think i am .
love to all Carolm x

Xeloda hi CarolM
know how you feel I go to my onc with all sorts of ideas re new treatments I am nagging for Avastin . Last year I was on xeloda for 9
months had good results followed by a much needed break but due to new growth I am back on it. So fingers crossed the tumours shrink
again .
All we can do is keep asking the onc’s. Im sure it’s all down to money but until we are given the chance to try these new treatments we can’t tell them we are right and they got it wrong.
Good luck. Debs Cornwall xxx

Hi Avastin is hugely expensive and not currently approved by NICE for breast cancer. Some hospitals are running trials for first-line treatment of bc mets using Avastin but they are very limited.
