Hi all,
I have been advised to have 2nd mast and ld flap reconstruction because of high chance return of bc.
Can anyone tell me whether the healing is quicker without the dreaded chemo? I really suffered with a sticky back last time, but I am pleased with the new boob even though it still thinks its a muscle!
Thank ladies
Sue xx
Hi Sue
I just wanted to say that you may find it helpful to talk things through with one of our helpliners, they can offer you support and a ‘listening ear’, they are open again on Tuesday from 9am until 2pm and weekdays 9am - 5pm, the number is 0808 800 6000.
Best wishes
Katie
HI Sue46
I have had two masectomies and LD recon done, first one affected side, second one like you because of high risk of family history. From my experience the healing time was exactly the same in fact where I had eclipse shape at the front I would say the affected side healed better, strange!! I had 5 wks drainage on my back on 1st op and 4 wks drainage on 2nd op on my back with the fluid. I have not heard of sticky back what is that? I am glad you are pleased with new boob. I was quite small before and am pleased too as I have gone up a size. Pleased to get rid of breast tissue, have done everything physically possible now to hopefully stop further problems.
good luck with 2nd op
