Hi all,
I was diagnosed with multi focal breast cancer in February. In April I had a SMX skin and nipple sparing DIEP surgery.
Surgery was successful, margins all clear. Sadly one lymph node was involved.
June I had a total lymph node clearance. Only the sentinel node had cancer. 1 out of 28 taken.
Then they said I needed chemotherapy no Radiotherapy required.
I have had a private Prosigna test done.
My risk of recurrence sore was 19 ( intermediate)
Probability of distance recurrence 8% at 10 years.
Seen Pvt Oncologist who says chemotherapy risk out weighs benefits.
I’m not sure if radiotherapy is now indicated.
I’m post menopausal and have had letrozole for 5 weeks. Zoladrex infussions have been recommended too.
I’m feeling very uncertain about everything at the moment.
If anyone is similar out there I would appreciate any thoughts!
Xxx

Scores aren’t the end be all of deciding treatment. The two things that stand out for me in your post are that you have had lymph node involvement. That tells your doctors your cancer wanted to travel and made inroads to doing that. The second thing is that you had multifocal cancer. That is known to be more aggressive than if you had it in just one spot. So if you are below 50, I would think chemo and radiation is a good choice.

Hi Kay,
Thanks for your reply.
I’m pretty borderline with everything. The tumours were all very small under 17mm. It’s Luminal A which is slower growing (as far as I know). I am 53 years old & was on HRT which I think was a factor in my very oestrogen 8 & Progesterone 8 cancer. It’s so difficult when you get different diagnosis’ from different Dr’s. Xx
