Prosthesis rant/advice please

I’ve read a lot on here about issues with prosthesies but wearing a softie for the first time today I’m really frustrated. As a more “mature” woman my boob(s) are softer, rounded and not at all pert. I’ve been given three amoeba softies to try all of which are unsuitable (for unsuitable read rubbish) in different ways, especially as they are all very pert triangular and “structured”. Given breast cancer is especially associated with ageing why aren’t prosthesis also made to match older boobs. Any advice on where to get a realistic shaped softie for those of us who’ve gone a bit south?

Hi, my Mum hated all the ones she was provided . I found Knitted Knockers for her. She loves them. Have a look

Hi I have a nhs silicone one went to local hospital for a fitting , it does sort of match my other breast , I wear the softies as well
I have knitted knockers as well which are comfy I have the ones without a Nipple easy to order online , also use there aqua ones which are good for swimming it is a case of trail and error to find the right prosthesis good luck sure you will find the right one for you , nothing is a substitute for the real thing wish you well xx

I found the whole question of prosthesis exasperating and poorly handled. After a lot of missed communications I got an appointment and was taken in to a room looking like a post office sorting office - cubby holes with sizes. My size was out of stock so they gave me one two sizes bigger. It weights a ton, sweats and I wore it only once. I got a local dressmaker to run me up a couple using old bras and stuffing. They are washable and fabulous. The NHS ones are pants.

Have you tried pulling out and rearranging some the stuffing in the softie? I found that this helped with the shape before I could get fitted for a silicone prosthesis.
I tend to wear t-shirt bras which are slightly padded which helped even out the shape.

Don’t despair @littlefish, it just takes a bit of time to find the right prosthesis/bra combo, but you’ll get there!
Knitted Knockers are definitely worth a try, & I also like the TruLife ones, available from Nicola Jane or Amoena. They’re a bit like small bean bags, & seem to have a natural “droop” instead of being pert. You might need to order several different sizes to find the best one for you.
M&S now have quite nice t-shirt bras with pockets, which are lightly padded & help to even things out.
Good luck, let us know how you get on XX

Well you maybe lucky that you have something to complain about. My softie is meant to be in the post but has not arrived . Could be the Royal mails fault as the post around here is erratic. I have visions of a neighbour opening my post .
Might have to revert to a sock …shades of my youth. I may also look up knitted knockers .

Thx all for the advice. Am currently experimenting with an M and S breast form which is a better shape for me. Hope yours turns up safe @ttlucky.
