Hi, I wondered if anyone had tried protein shakes as a meal replacement and if so, if you have found one that stops you feeling hungry until the next meal? I am aware that I need to increase my protein but at the same time, I am obviously less active (two days post mastectomy) than usual. I am prone to weight gain so really want to try to keep it under control if possible.
Hello, I found that Huel Black Edition protein shakes were great and definitely filling. They had the most protein I could find. They are pricey but I figured I wont need them forever, its just for recovery and for when I didnt have much appetite. You can buy them in bulk on Amazon Prime
I’m much further down the line than you and had gained aot of weight . However I have lost 16 pounds in 6 weeks . I haven’t tried any protein shakes but have found it’s worth checking labels if you’re trying to increase your protein intake . I eat a lot of Greek yoghurt and thought it was all the same but some kinds have 10 grams of protein per hundred grams and some as little as 3 grams. I have also added a lot of seeds and nuts into my diet for protein /minerals / fibre/ healthy fat. I try not to eat before 10.30 am ( not always possible) then have porridge oats with seeds walnuts berries strained Greek yoghurt and some kefir for the friendly bacteria . I often make this the night before and have it as overnight oats for lunch and either don’t need to eat until evening when I make sure I’m getting a good amount of protein or just a snack . I’ve taken some advice from the Fast 800 who advocate eating a lot of protein and have a lot of high protein recipes including shakes / meal replacements . If I was to try protein shakes etc. I would probably to try theirs first xx
