Have Lymphodema in right Arm
Should I be having a long surgery
With Lymphodema swollen torso too
Is it going to be worse after all them hours
Frightened of closing my eyes as I won’t be able to control how they treat my arm whilst I’m under

It’s understandable you’re frightened about having a long surgery particularly as you have lymphoedema in your right arm and torso.

You don’t mention what type of surgery you are having, but the best people to discuss this with are your surgeon and lymphoedema team. They have all the information about your individual situation, can explain in detail about the risks and benefits of having surgery and what might help reduce the risk of further swelling.

We offer a range of free supportive services for anyone who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer which you may be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.

You are welcome to call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.
