Many thanks.

Hi there,
I didn’t have to have this exact procedure as I didnt have a lumpectomy. I know other people have posted about this, and I think that if you put in some of the words and an * in the search bar, you will find what others say.

I did have the radioactive injection, it stung a bit like a bee sting, but wasn’t actually in the nipple as I had feared, but just nearby. The stinging lasted about five minutes and the lady doing it was very nice and understanding. I didn’t have to get undressed, just lifted up my top and took my bra off. It was all over quickly.
I know when they put the wire in, they put a pad over it so it’s secure.

I’m sure all wil go ok, soon be over…

Big hugs

Lynette

I just had the Radioactive injections in both breasts, before my double masectomy. My breast care nurse gave me some numbing cream and sticky covers to put on before I left home. I didn’t really feel anything, but I would make sure ( if you do ask for the cream ) you go past the edge of the nipple onto skin around as this is where they injected.

The wire thing sounds worse than it actually is Lisa. For me it was no worse than having the biopsy taken. U have it inserted under ultrasound guidance with local anaesthetic so they can locate the tumour & it’s not actually a wire but a long piece of flexible plastic which does i must admit does look very strange poking out from your boob, lol. But they just bend it & tape it to your chest so it was no problem. Good luck with the surgery x

Thanks so much for your comments and kind words. Im having surgery the day after the wire and injection. WLE on the right and reconstruction on the left at the same time. Cant wait for it all to be over and be home in time for Christmas.
