I have my first radiotherapy tomorrow at Christies Manchester. Really scared as my tattoo section did not go well. Pinprick i was told and it was more like drilling into my rib and was left with so much pain and bruised chest. Cried so much after the session and during. Sure I can take pain and had a baby without any help. Was i so unlucky as being slim and having thin skin, or was it equipment use or being heavy handed. After the session I was left feeling uncared and let’s move on to the next person.
one week on and it is still painful and sore to touch. Two weeks in with above medication and have been running to the loo and have hot flushes an swollen ankles. I was fine after the operation.
Juicing is helping, and started Yoga today. Anyone else feeling the same.
Hi Sox
Just behind you in treatment. Had WLE and SNB waiting for results of SNB (very scared). Anyway reason for message, I have been told that whatever, will need rads (10mins for three weeks). How long after op did you wait for rads? Just can’t take this sitting around - all my friends work so they are only around at the weekends. Feeling very “home alone”. I just want to get on with it and get my life back.
Also can I ask, have they said whether you will have tamoxifen after.
Georgina.
Sorry - just read that you will be on anastrozole. Sorry mushy brain.
You are having anti-hormonal meds at the same time as rads? I thought rads first and then anti-hormonals. At least that was I was I told. Or is my order of treatment unusual?
Are other people having them concurrently or sequentially?
PS I hope you are feeling better soon
Hi ladies I was diagnosed in Jan this had WLE and SNB 21 Jan. No node involvement or vascular invasion so no chemo. Was given Anastrozole when went for results and told to start it immediately, didn’t start rads till March and took the tablets at same time. It appears as if people are told to start hormone therapy tabs at all different times in their treatment plans. Best wishes to you all Pat

It really depends on the hospital. some like you to start rads first and hormone tablet after. Others like them to run concurrently. I didn’t have rads, but have started with Anastrazole.
Good luck.

Last year I had mx, anc, chemo and 5 weeks rad. Rads finished December but oncologist gave me a prescription for anastrazole some time before I actually started rads because I wouldn’t be seeing her again until after rads had finished.
I actually asked her when I should start taking the pills, meaning should I start taking them now or after rads, and was told please yourself it doesn’t matter. So hey ho, I thought I will take them after I finish rads - actually I started about 3 days after I finished rads so that I could see the New Year in with no side effects of pills and I could have a wee drink to see in the New Year - being a Scot it’s hard to see the New Year in with a glass of Irn-Bru in your hand.
Take care all
Maggie
Hi Sox, I am similar to Trisha as diagnosed just before Christmas with a primary tumour and had have have two lots of surgery and the node excision which was done the first time. I was started on the Anastrozole when I saw the Oncologist in Febuary before I started my radiotherapy eight weeks later in the third week of March and that was 15 treatments over three- four weeks because of Easter.
Like you they hurt me when they did the tattooing and yes it was like a factory production line!. I had brusing also. Keep strong you will get through it . Take care, Katy.
Thank you , I don’t feel so alone, after addressing this issue I was told its just me and they ave not come across it hurting fr this long
Thank you again
Hi, I had my operation on the 29th April and rads started 1/7 after my Bone density wait and check. Started medication before radiotherapy, keep strong , we all need to be, as its just so upsetting visiting hospitals and seeing others in worst state, but still note feeling any better about yourself
