Radiotherapy/NF1

Hello,

I was diagnosed with high grade grade DCIS in January and had surgery end of March (WLE). At post op check I was told margins were clear and tumour was smaller than thought. Next step would be radiotherapy. But at next appointment I was told that as i have NF1 radiotherapy would be high risk and probably not recommended. There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice and i feel like I have to choose between a breast cancer coming back or getting a different cancer. I have now been referred to a more senior oncologist but just wonder if anyone has experience of NF1 and breast cancer treatment? Best wishes to all who are on this roller coaster that none of us want to be on!

@worriedmum1, So sorry to read you are going through such a worrying time at the moment, I’m really don’t know enough to give you any advice, however I feel sure someone will reply to you very soon.

As you say we are on a roller coaster, so many different answers which can be so worrying, the breast cancer nurses on this site are extremely helpful, kind and reassuring maybe give them a call on 0808 800 6000.

Wishing you health and happiness going forward
