Hi
I’m getting a bit ahead of myself but had a mas and immediate recon in early June and now 3/6 Taxotere chemo completed.
At the end of the chemo I have been told that I have 5 weeks of Radiotherapy.
I was wondering does anyone have experience of Radio on recon - are there any problems.
I had rads on a recon and im quite big busted so it got a little red under the bust but a bit of aloe vera gel sorted it out other than that it shouldnt have any effect, you’ll be fine.

Thanks for that. I’m getting a hard time from my know all sister who says now that I was silly to get the immediate recon. as I was getting radiotherapy.
Couple of points:
I didn’t know at the time of surgery I would be having radio
She said nothing at time and I was in a state of shock I probably didn’t think it through but that’s life.
Anyhow, feel better knowing that it isn’t a big issue.
Thanks Tracey
I too am 37 and like I felt that I needed to make the recon choice to help me deal with this thing in my way.
I feel that enough of my dignity is gone and that at least having a boob helps me through this (if you know what I mean)
no problem, being there and done that i totally understand, especially about the dignity thing, i wouldnt let anyone see my head when it had been shaved, even now i still wear a bandana around the house and ive got about two inches of hair, dignity is very personal to you and sometimes friends and family dont get it because they havent been in that position, thats why this site is so great.
Ask away if you have any more questions.
Thanks for that Lucy
I am rubbing on lots of bio oil and the skin is looking good.Any other good creams?
I had the slightly added wound in that I had to have a skin flap inserted as the cancer was quite close to the skin surface so the surgeon removed it and replaced with a piece from my tummy.
It has healed really nicely - all a bit sore at the moment as I am on chemo and it is such a rollercoaster ride that I have to remind myself that the surgery was only 11 weeks ago. Normally we’d be nursing it and taking such good care post op but it seems a small thing now compared to chemo.
