I am on my 17th session of radiotherapy with two more to go
I am tired and my left breast is very ‘sunburnt’ and hurts to touch but I’m also suffering from nausea and constant diarrhoea, if I eat something I’m on the toilet within half an hour.
Had these symptoms from around session 5 but I’m also taking Letrozol which I have been on for 8 weeks.
anyone else had anything similar?
Thank you!

That sounds horrid. Give the helpline nurses a call before they stop for the evening. It’s not on the lists of possible side effects I’ve seen.

I would ring the radiotherapy dept and explain your symptoms your having.

so sorry to hear this. I started taking letrozole after my radiotherapy but I only needed 10 sessions. I tolerated the radiotherapy very well. I wish you so much luck and feel better soon.

I didn’t have the diarrhoea but I had fatigue and with that came the nausea and loss of appetite . I found that I was helped by things containing ginger and mint . If you can get some kombucha particularly ginger it may help to support your bowels as well as help with nausea as it contains friendly bacteria . Or you can try Cola which is a natural antiemetic and the sugar will give you energy. Forget about meals and healthy eating for now - if you can tolerate a biscuit or bit of dry toast then that will do for now. I have heard of people having diarrhoea after radiotherapy before but I don’t think it’s all that common . The important thing is to stay hydrated as the treatment can make you more dehydrated so you may need to ask for help if you can’t stay hydrated or the symptoms persist. I really hope you feel better soon. Xx
