Hi i just wondered if most folk have their radiotherapy oncology follow up appointment by telephone? Ive got mine at the end of the week and I dont do well on the phone due to hearing loss. Ive made a list of issues and questions to make sure i ask everything but im sure the oncologist will get fed up of me asking him to repeat everything!

HI @susynight I had my radiotherapy oncology follow up appointment by phone and am also slightly hard of hearing. I made sure the oncologist knew this at the outset when they rang me and explained that this would be the reason why I might need them to repeat any information. The oncologist I had was very understanding and spoke slowly and checked with me that I understood everything and if I had any questions. I hope your appointment goes well.

Yes I had the same - it was ok for me but yes let them know at the outset that you have hearing problems also is there anyone that could listen in with you if you go in speaker phone to make sure you don’t miss anything and maybe not things down for you ? Xx

You can ask them for a face to face appointment and explain why. It may be a longer wait for the appointment as I am sure the telephone ones are time saving. No harm in asking.
