Hi everyone
I really am quite anxious about my radiotherapy treatment which starts tomorrow
i have a regional recurrence of breast cancer diagnosed last November 2020 the tumour is inoperable as it has come quite high just under my clavicle and is on the pectoral muscle very close to main artery so unable to operate
i have been on palbociclib and letrozole since November had scan in jan had very good response,so have been offered radiotherapy for a back up which I’m very pleased about .But I have had lymphodeama in my arm for 11 years from first diagnosis and I’m worried that it may cause more swelling with radiotherapy treatment ,I find it very difficult to live with psychologically and am really anxious,I have spoken to the radiology nurse regarding this but they obviously can’t say if it will effect my arm for definite,it may not but it’s really causing me stress as it does mention it in side effects.i know that radiotherapy will give me a much better prognosis probably, but I hope my quality of life will still be good as I’ve had a lot of depression from the effects of living with lymphodeama.
I was just wondering if anyone has been in this situation and if it caused their arm to swell.
thanks for listening.xx
