Wow, hair extensions. Would never have thought that was suitable for ‘new’ hair, but maybe so!!
Mine is now (6 months down the line) 2 inches or so and curly with grey bits. My OH just told me I look 45-50 (I’m 37). Cheers honey! I have bought regular dye… but not sure whether to do it. Part of me is dreading the mid length, tight curls nasty perm look, and part of me is hugely curious about what it will be like. OH says I’ll look stupid with extensions. He’s such a help! <rolls eyes=“”></rolls>
Been a while and was wondering how some of you were doing. I’m off to have my 2nd haircut coz the curls are maddening!!! Never thought I’d be one for a ‘pixie’ do but have discovered I’m happier than a pig in a muddy puddle with it short:) and at the end of the day its better than the baldie period we’ve all had:) Have thought about changing its colour but I keep being told by family and friends they prefer me the way it is.
Hope everyone continues on tis journey of ours symptom free and healthy
8 weeks since last chemo now and hair is coming in, went to a local hair extension specialist, they say said they need at least 4 inch so that the bit where the extensions are glued in can be hidden underneath and the joint be concealed. They apparently last 3-4 months. My hair is still too short, but it is hair…
First haircut hurray!!! I had my haircut yesterday. I am only 4 weeks post chemo and only have a thin covering but the fluff was getting me down and felt scruffy. I felt alot happier after trim and feel I can now show off my new hair rather than hide it. I still get those phantom moments when I put my hand through my hair only to find its not there!!! Anyone else get these???
The hair extensions look fab. I was thinking of colouring mine when its a bit longer can anyone recommend a natural hair colour???
I used Naturtint from Holland and Barrett about a month after last chemo, looked so much better!! Did strand test first though to see if it would turn orange even though it has no chemicals in it. But it worked fine. Felt a lot better for it, too!!
Has anyone else had this strange experience with the hair. I am 6 months post chemo and my hair is now about an inch & a half all over. Last week when I went to bed I had slightly curly hair on one side but the other side, top and back were straight. When I woke up I had curls all over my head. My husband was away when it happened and was so suprised when he came back
hi all
lovely to hear everyones experiences with their hair
i am nearly 7 mths after chemo and have had 1 trim 5 wks ago round the ears and neck hair
im due another on fri as dont like the frizz look
its about 2-3 inches i guess but hardly any fringe
would love the extentions but as a single mum on benefits there is no way i could afford the upkeep, sob!
has anyone had bleached highlights put in yet?
i did a herbatint around 4 wks ago which was ok but im used to being much lighter and usually have highlights to mingle the grey or which there is much more now
I finished Tax in January and it seemed ages until my hair (on my head!) started to grow.
It is now dark … darker than before … dark brown/black rather than brunette. It is about a couple of inches … and quite curly at the back. I have had lots of compliments … people saying it “really suits me” and that I look “really glamorous”.
I still feel like a “cancer survivor” … but I guess others don’t perceive me that way. I hope these comments give hope to those currently having chemo … I remember hanging onto any positive word I read or heard!!
Just to add I’ve had so many compliments about my hair and really have LOL’d at those who don’t know I’ve had treatment…“Where did you get it done?” I do miss my long hair, but I like the new me, I just use loads of wax to tame it xx
CMW - everyday I wake up and it’s slightly different. Getting quite bouffant now, and very thick. It was thick before but the curls make it feel thicker. Off for my second trim - and thinning out - on Wednesday. I’m also using some wax to help define the curls instead of looking like a blue rinser at the age of 37!
I’m having my second trim on Tuesday and I’m also using wax - though having never used it before I keep getting the amount wrong!
I think I’m going to keep it short as I quite like it and it is so easy to look after. I am still finding it a novelty having hair and have to keep putting my fingers through it
I have been away this weekend, staying at our caravan (we have had it on the same site all summer). Yesterday an elderly gent I have seen a few times over the summer, but have never said anything more than hello to, called me over. He said to me that he was so glad to see that my hair was growing back, and hoped that I had finished my treatment - he was so sweet.
Hey happy hair growers!
So please to read that the hair is growing well for you all!
Mine is about an inch and a half to two inches…but, it is getting quite curly!
Not really a great surprise, as i had naturally curly hair before, but it does look odd being so short.
Anyway, here’s too more flowing locks over the next few months…who will be the first to have a ponytail i wonder…???
Good luck with the interveiw my hair bout inch sticking up everywhere putting hair food on ot min puts a sheen on it to got some hats from next in the sale early this yr quite trendy having to wear them at min my hair was very thick and curly got little curls at the end least its on my head didnt like havin none
ive rung racoon and they are going to ring me back when shes out of a meeting lol. i need to know about the cost of the upkeep as being a single mum not working i dont think i can afford it. i have booked for another little trim on friday but my hairdresser is very reluctant to do me bleached highlights so looks like it will be mahogony herbatint again, i dont like being dark lol
