RANT ALERT - HATE MY HAIR!

Has anyone tried emu oil? Apparently its the lastest all natural hair growth stimulator! Have taken delivery today of serum supposedly stimulating growth, high hopes all round, ie wake up tomorrow and has grown back overnight as it was, below my shoulders…LOL!

Hi Jaclyn
Just wanted to let you know that i’m going for my hair extensions tomorrow morning.
Thanks for giving me the drive to go for it.

Hi stella, good luck today, hope you love your new hair as much as i did. Pleasee let us know how it goes. Take care.

Jacky

keep me posted

Hi Stella,

How lenght did you require for extensions? x

Hi all…
Well I’ve had it done and it is absolutely AMAZING!!! I will try to download a photo if I can. You need about 2-3 inches of hair but to be honest the top of my head is only about 1.5 inches but obviously the longer it is the better. They are so professional & they are looking for more people who have lost there hair due to illness. They are all specifically trained to deal with fragile hair. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. They are based all around the UK. I feel so much better about myself.
Big hugs
Stella

Hi Stella

Did you habe it done by racoon? I’ve registered with them but it needs to be 4 inches long. My hair is about 2 inches at the mo.

Julia xx

Oh I also forgot to say that MacMillan subsidise it by as much as 60%, all they ask is for you to complete a form about how you felt before & after having the extensions. They are fighting for the government to recognise how important it is and make this a part of the treatment for those of us who have lost our hair due to illness.
I must say I feel so on top of the world at the moment. I look just like I did before my BC journey began over 14 months ago.
Even more hugs
Stella

Hi Rancidtart, yes it was done by racoon and yes MacMillan like it to be about 4". But Paul who did my hair was able to do do the top of my head easily enough.

I also have 2 inches and was told that I need to have at least 3 inches, so I guess it is possible with 2 inches?

Hi stella. So glad that you love extensions, its just great seeing the old you reappearing after so many months of harsh treatment isnt it.

Rancidtart. My hair was about 3 inches. But probably shorter in places and they managed to work miracles!

Racoon hair in recovery is a fantastic charity.

Enjoy x

Oh wow, some great news about the racoon hair recovery programme then…wahoo…i can’t wait to have mine done too!
I have registered, and was also told that i need 4 inches of hair for them to be done.
I want to wait until i have had my last lot of reconstructive surgery before i have then, as i was told that you cannot wear them under anesthetic??

Stella, can’t wait to see your pic

Here you are girls, a pic with my new luscious Racoon extensions
Big hugs
Stella

Oh wow! Stella they look fab! I am soooo jealous now

I bet you are thrilled?

How easy are they to maintain?
The woman who rang me from racoon, said that to begin with, i would need to go to the salon weekly to see how they are etc, and then less after that.

Wow Stella, fantastic!! My hair started to grow after 3rd Fec, but started new regime 3 weeks ago and now losing hair again… but what a great thing to look forward to!! I have been in tears since it all fell out again… but this has really cheered me up, roll on 2"!

Stella, hair looks fabulous! My hair was shoulder length but I got it cut really short to help my daughter (and me) get used to the idea of me losing it in preparation for chemo starting Wed 25. I’ve had so many compliments on my new hairstyle - would never have been brave enough to try it by choice!

They really seem to be looking after me & are extremely professional. I have to go back tomorrow for him to show me how to wash & blow dry my hair. Yes I understand that I need to go back to keep it maintained on a weekly basis. I’ll probably get fed up with it in time but at the moment I’m happy to do what it takes to have hair again.
I’ve put on 4.5 stone since last Nov and now being bald has really knocked my confidence. I have started my diet and started to exercise, I even bought some trainers; I’ve not owned a pair for about 10 years. I’ll let you all know how it goes (warts & all).
Hugs to all

Now six months post chemo have just posted a recent photo of my new hair do. I have had it dyed at a salon that uses Aveda products and am very pleased with the outcome. I am even useing my hairdryer to dry it again. It feels soooo good to be able to run my fingers through it now!

Well i think your hair looks very nice et…
I am 6mths post chemo at the end of this month, have about an inch and a half to two inches of hair and have got my hair dryer out now.
It feels so good to ‘dry my hair’ even though it takes about 10 seconds!

How is everyone else doing?

Hi Girls - I was just thinking about you so popped in here - my hair is growing very slowly got about an inch so still no need for hair dryer - i suspect that Herceptin is slowing down the growth (also tamoxifen) as the herceptin still has my white blood count suppressed so I would put the blame there !

My hair is an odd colour - certainly not the colour it was and curly like a poodle really !!! Not sure yet if I will dye it or not - I’ll leave it for the now and see how I feel nearer Christmas when its dark and gloomy outside

Good to hear that 6 mths post chemo we’re all getting on with getting on  LR xxx
