Rash fours months after radiotherapy

Hi there,

Has anyone got a rash four months after radiotherapy ended? Am currently on anastrozole, Abemaciclib, zometa and infusion to prevent bone Mets. Recently I developed a rash across chest similar to where rads were.

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!

I was very red from the off and for quite a few months after but someone on my Moving Forwards course had developed a rash some time afterwards .and she was on something to clear it up . You should contact your BCN or if the Radiotherapy team have given you contact number then try them xx .

I had some burns that appeared about 2 wks after completion of RT so was a bit shocked as no one said it could happen afterwards. And just so u know, I have a nodule on my lung and painful ribs which has been confirmed as caused by the RT (it’s a year ago since I had it). Hope this helps x

The area under and around the side of my boob (essentially where an underwire would sit), together with the surgery scar tissue, became very red and peeled, like bad sunburn, about 6 weeks after radiotherapy. It took about 2 weeks to resolve. The hospital told me that they are finding the newer 5 day protocol (which I had) is resulting in later effects than the literature mentions. A few months later I developed oedema in the same area.

That sounds horrible. :frowning_with_open_mouth:
I’ve just seen my oncologist this week following radiotherapy last week, and he suggested I wouldn’t get any worse in the following weeks. I’ll have to wait and see if he’s right. So far I’ve had burning sensations and hot feeling skin, but not skin damage. My operation scars are more angry looking/feeling. These treatments are the gift that keeps on giving! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, it was several months after radiotherapy that I had a rash and a hot boob, I contacted my breast nurse who had me come in and both she and my surgeon said it was unusual but not unknown for it to take that long for it to show itself. He recommended I use topical ibuprofen gel and to moisturise as much as possible and that it would calm down after a while, it did after about another few weeks. By then the scaly skin was in full bloom and that settled down a few more weeks later too. It felt never ending for a while and I still 18months later have 1 boob warmer than the other but know that’s going to be my normal now.
Each one of us is different and heal at different rates, I know it’s worrying but contact your breast nurse, she’ll hopefully be able to set your mind at rest.
Try to have a lovely Christmas if you celebrate it and take time for yourself. Big gentle hugs to you xx
