Reactive lymph glands2

I’ve been told I have 2 lumps in same quadrant and also 2 reactive lymph glands. What does reactive mean? Thanks

Hello stafford22

Thank you for posting.

It’s understandable you are seeking more information about reactive lymph nodes seen during your breast lump investigations.

Reactive or swollen lymph nodes are normal lymph nodes that are enlarged, usually as a sign that the body is fighting infection. Reactive nodes look different on ultrasound to nodes that are affected by cancer and therefore do not need to be biopsied. Reactive or swollen nodes gradually get smaller again over time and usually do not need to be monitored.
