Reading your posts is helping .....

I am 49 and a half and had a mammogram 10 days ago as part of an early screening trial where I live.  Got home from work tonight and have a letter asking me to go for further tests on Monday.  After having a major meltdown ( hubby and daughter out at work at the moment) and effectively made up my mind that I am going to die (mum diagnosed at 49 and died at age 53) I calmed myself down and found this forum.  Been reading posts for the last couple of hours.

I am terrified but calm (for now) - your posts and experiences have really helped - it really helps me knowing that the fear and anxiety at this stage is normal.

I just want you to know you are a beacon of hope to me xx

Right the first thing to do is to stop and breath xx

One thing to keep in mind is that this is your first mammogram so they have nothing to compare it to so try to keep calm.  The anxiety is quite normal and it takes over your rational mind

Come on here whenever you need to talk and there will always be someone who will help and support you.

Here is a pair of our tough pants that we give ladies to help them through those tricky days, the pockets are very deep for all of us to fit in on the day

Sending you a hug

Hi Cinders,
Thanks for your lovely comments & sorry to hear about your mum.
Well, it’s certainly good that you were on the trial, so whatever it is has been picked up promptly & will be properly looked at, which is what it is for.
Obviously, anxiety is normal, but it may still be all ok & if not, then the trial has done its job to get it sorted out. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.
Do let us know how you get on.
