Recently i was dx with an enlarged milk duct in the right breast after going twice to the breast clinic since may 10,it is still itchy and painful etc but i went for a shower earlier and thought i’d look in the mirror and check them, well to my horror my right side looks like someone has drawn all over it because the veins are really noticable, i know im probably over reacting but it was a shock, and both my left and right are red but more the left which has a lot of thickening around the nipple area and is also starting to become itchy, i just needed to know is this normal i’m 45 so could it be to the hormones changing ?
I didn’t want to go and see my gp again and feel a fool and nuisance.
thankyou Kimxx
Hi kim you shouldnt feel a nuisance you know your own body if your not resting physcialy and mentaly then go back and insist that they do something about it see about having a mammogram or an ultrasound make the appointment good luck elaine xx
Hi Kim
Hope you’re ok
Did you ring the helpline and/or make another appointment?

Hi Sandra
I haven’t phoned the helpline hubby been with me all week but ive got an appt with a GP tomoorrow 9.20 i feel quite nervous in away incase they think i’m mad lol but it’s driving me nuts, ive mentioned to hubby that i’m going back about my boobs and he’s not even asked why, he’s going himself so he’s going to be there but in away i wish he wasn’t because he doesn’t seem that bothered but he is like that and it’s hard sometimes to talk to him.
I will let you know how i get on and thankyou for thinking of me.
How are you ? have you heard anymore yet ?

Hi Kim
Any news? Did you get a helpful/sympathetic GP this time? Think this site gives the support that’s needed when those around you (close to you) can’t.
I’ve nothing to report yet, let you know when I do.

Hello Kim,
I’ve just read your posts and wanted to join in with saying I hope you went on ok at the doctor’s!
Luv xxx
I saw dr friday and it was a waste of time, she checked me stood up and said the thickening around the nipple is normal and the pain i’m getting is hormonal,so why didn’t the hospital say that ? and the itching is down to my sensitive skin.
So i have to believe this and carry on as normal and try and put it to the back of my mind, i no thats going to be hard but i have to and be greatful i’m not going through op’s and treatment like most of the ladies on here and who are so brave and alway’s manage to be supportive to any one new who joins this site and thankyou to everyone who has done that for me.
I will still come on the site and hopefully might beable to someone because ive still got a breast condition.
Kim xx
Hi Kim
I’m so sorry you didn’t get a better response from your GP, I can identify how you feel and it is possible to get on with your life on the whole (I’ve done it for 3 years) and put this behind you - it just comes back as a niggle every now and then.
It does annoy me that you present with a symptom that’s new to you and it’s the GP without doing tests who presumes to know exactly what’s going on - even if they said come back in 4 weeks and see if there are any further changes it’s something.
The title of my post how has anyone managed to get a rereferral seems very appropriate. I have read some ladies seemed to have referrals each time they go back to GP - how? Some have even said my mammogram was clear yet have still been diagnosed how?
Anyway I hope your symptoms ease which could be reassuring, and I expect we’ll be popping back to this site every now and then looking for that reassurance.
Take care
Sandra
Ps I’ve not heard anything yet
