Hi,
This is my first post and am so glad I found this site.
I had a hysterectomy 8 yrs ago due to cervical cancer then last year I had my remaining ovary removed due to a cyst,I am now on HRT. My consultant said that I must have yearly mammograms because HRT can increase the chances of getting breast cancer.
Anyway, Iv never been invited for a mammogram so just carried on plodding along, however, I started to get a slight burning/tearing pain in my right breast that went under my armpit and felt a lump, I left it for a week and then noticed it had got marginally bigger so went to see my GP. She said that it is very noticeable and there is thickened tissue in the area as well so she has booked me in for a mammogram and ultra sound and also possibly a biopsy may be taken.
My tests are today and although I keep trying to be positive, Iv been having nightmares and very negative thoughts.
Does anyone know what my chances are of this being breast cancer please?
The disease is in the family on my maternal side.
Am so worried and very scared, I just need a hug :0( xxx
Hi there coxy
Waiting for appointments and tests is a very worrying time and your feelings are completely normal.
Whilst you’re waiting for replies, perhaps you might like to speak to someone on our Helpline? They’re great listeners and can maybe help you feel a little less anxious.
The number is 0808 800 6000 and they’re open 9-5 today.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards.

Hi
Well first (((((hug))))))…
I am so sorry you have his worry, as you have already been through enough. You have done all the right things in getting this checked out quickly. Most lumps do turn out to be benign and I wish you well with your tests. Make sure you are happy that and ask all the questions you have and express all of your concerns. Hopefully you will get the results soon, as the waiting can be hard. Take care and be kind to yourself. Please post again if you have any questions or just to let us know how you got on. Dx
Awwww Thank You both so much for your replies…both my mammograms and ultra sound scan have shown a lump with cysts on but Dr said that at the moment its nothing sinister, I have to check myself every month and if there is any changes then I must go back to see him.
Im relieved for now but am still slightly concerned that it could turn into cancer over the next few years???
But for now Im healthy and feeling much more positive then I was this morning :0))
Many Thanks again for your support xxx
Hi
Really pleased for you. Enjoy your good news. Yes you will have it in the back of your mind, but that is ok it means you will be super vigilant and take nothing for granted. Good luck. Debx
